How to use

  1. Enter your age and details. Add your age, sex and tobacco use. Premiums roughly double every 8–10 years of age, and smokers pay substantially more.
  2. Choose cover amount. Set the lump sum you want your policy to pay out. Premiums scale with the amount of cover.
  3. Pick a term and health class. Choose a 10-, 15-, 20- or 30-year term and your health class. Longer terms and lower health classes raise the premium.
  4. Review your estimate. See your estimated monthly and annual premium, the typical range, and a term-by-term comparison.

Features

  • Term-life rating factors. Uses age, sex, smoking, cover amount, term length and health class — the core levers life insurers underwrite on.
  • Monthly, annual and a range. Shows both monthly and annual cost plus a low–high band for the spread between insurers and underwriting outcomes.
  • Term comparison. Compares 10-, 15-, 20- and 30-year terms so you can see how locking in longer changes the cost.
  • Honest scope. Clearly limited to standard level term, and flags that whole-life and guaranteed-issue cost more.
  • 100% private. All maths runs in your browser. Your details are never uploaded, stored or shared.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real life insurance quote?

No. It is an educational estimate for standard level term life based on published averages. Real prices depend on medical underwriting, the insurer and your application, so get quotes for exact figures.

What type of life insurance does it estimate?

Level term life, which pays a tax-free lump sum if you die within the policy term. Whole-life and guaranteed-issue policies work differently and cost considerably more.

Why do smokers pay so much more?

Tobacco use materially raises mortality risk, so smoker premiums are often two to three times non-smoker rates. Many insurers reclassify you after you have been smoke-free for a period.

How does cover amount affect the price?

The premium scales roughly with the size of the payout, so doubling the cover amount roughly doubles the premium, all else equal.

Do the rates stay accurate?

Term-life pricing is relatively stable, but averages still shift over time, so each estimate shows its data vintage.

Is my information private?
