How to use

  1. Enter your age and car. Add your age, the car's value and your annual distance in kilometres. Younger drivers and pricier cars raise the estimate.
  2. Choose your cover level. Pick third-party property, third-party fire & theft, or comprehensive. Comprehensive also covers damage to your own car.
  3. Set your rating and excess. Select your no-claim rating and basic excess. A higher rating (Rating 1) and a bigger excess both lower your premium.
  4. Review your estimate. See your estimated annual and monthly premium, the typical range, and each factor's contribution.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real car insurance quote?

No. It is an educational estimate based on published Australian averages and standard rating factors. Real prices depend on your state, postcode, insurer and history, so get quotes for exact figures.

Does this include CTP (green slip)?

No. Compulsory Third Party insurance is separate and mandatory, paid when you register a vehicle. This tool estimates optional comprehensive or third-party property cover on top of CTP.

What is a no-claim rating?

Australian insurers use a no-claim rating (often 1 to 6) that reflects your claims history. Rating 1 is the maximum no-claim discount; a recent at-fault claim moves you toward Rating 6 and a higher premium.

How does the excess affect my premium?

The excess is what you pay toward a claim. A higher basic excess lowers your premium because you carry more of the risk. The tool lets you compare excess levels.

Do the rates stay accurate?

Average premiums move over time, so each estimate shows its data vintage. The rating factors themselves are more stable.

Is my information private?

Yes. Everything runs locally in your browser with no upload, no storage and no sign-up.
